Maybe this is getting ridiculous and maybe it shows I go around with my head in the clouds, but I just can’t help myself. We went out for the day on Tuesday to Bolton Abbey. It was hot. very hot indeed. We sat on a bench and my eye was drawn to the roof of the house opposite.
And there hiding in the only bit of shade were three doves! Clever doves.

Of course you are looking up!
CS Lewis said “Prideful people are always looking down on things and other people, And of course as long as you are looking down, you cannot see something above you!”.
At our house these would be pigeons- I do hate them on the house! Messy droppings on my balcony!
What’s next? And eagle on an eave? A magpie on a mansard?
Don’t go giving me ideas!!
Clever doves indeed🙂
Very, and it shows how hot it was.
I imagine you will be forever looking up at roofs for interesting occupants now. Can anything beat the peacock though! X
Not so far, are you throwing down the gauntlet and challenging me?
I will keep looking up! Z
Wonderful, and I love the roof you found for your photo challenge today.
At first I was looking up round the chimney area thinking damn, that woman’s got good eye sight 🙂 But then I lowered my eyes……….. I’m with kate, a new series ‘something on a roof’. Could be fun and get us all looking up!
Ok it’s a challenge!
You must have birds on the brain! 🙂
Does that make me a bird brain? Probably!
😋
Looking up often has rewarding surprises!
As long as I don’t walk into something!
Hi Cathy! I’m so glad that I’m not the only one who loves to look up. (when we visited New York, my husband and me were always looking up) 🙂 I so enjoy watching our doves that hang out on the ground around our bird feeder. Thanks for sharing. Hugs, Tamara
Oh yes those sky scrapers. I had to be careful not to fall over whilst looking at them!
LOL!!! Me too.
Sooo glad you are keeping your sense of fun, and your head in the clouds. It’s cooler up there. 😘
Sounds like a good plan to keep my head up there!
You know, this could be the start of a series: ‘Up on the Roof’, like the James Taylor song (one of my favourites). No rules about when, just put one up when you spot something…
I’m quite good at spotting scaffolders too!
Well, there you go!
You missed one I think!
There were six crowded onto that small space when we walked back later in the afternoon but I was too darned hot to take another picture!
Loverly doverly.
Haha!
LOL!!
