SAL- update End of August

Three weeks seem to pass so quickly! But slow and steady is working. I am cross stitching a birth sampler for my grandson. It should have been ready for his first birthday, but knitting and life intervened and here we are and he’s seven already. The project had become a WIP!  Enter the SAL. Here’s where I was at the beginning of August.

And Percy, last time

and now

There is an awful lot of green hedge to do now. The only way is to do a block of 10 from the bottom , then the next and so on.

Please see how the others have done this time, links below.

SAL- August update

Slow and steady is getting me there, thanks to joining the SAL.I am stitching a birth sampler, long overdue as Master H is now 7 years old and this should have been ready for his first birthday. The characters are based on the stories by Nick Butterworth of Percy the Park Keeper.

This is where I was three weeks ago

6.7.15 003

and this is where I am now

helmsley 2015 009

I am back stitching the mice and the final leaf motif is complete in the top right hand corner.

helmsley 2015 010

and down the bottom I have started Percy himself!

helmsley 2015 011 Now I am worrying about those creases in the middle, will I get them out after all this time? Anyone have any tips?

Please have a look at the SAL updates below.

SAL- update

It’s been a busy time in the garden recently, I can’t keep up with the weeds! However I have been able to spend some time on the birth sampler for my grandson. Determined he shall have it before he is eight.

The row of stitches to the right are for some mice. But I have run into a problem, I can’t find one of the colours I need, I was so sure I had all the ones I required, which probably means, I have moved the skein to another project, but where and which one? Or did I ever have it? This means shopping… I try to keep out of sewing shops, the results of a trip to one can be expensive……

So glad I joined the SAL, I have made more progress in 6 weeks than I have in seven years!!

SAL- May 2015

One of the best decisions I made this month was to join the SAL. The grotty weather in England has helped too, rain stopping gardening etc.

I started the birth sampler for my first grandson 7 year ago intending to give it to him on his first birthday, but life and the joys of knitting for said grandson, meant progress was virtually non existent. Enter the SAL.

SO HAPPY

Looking like this now

SAL May 15 001

So my aim for June is to, finish the fox and badger. There are some mice to go in opposite the hedgehog, top right, Percy the Park Keeper and hedge at the bottom, two more leaf motifs top right and words in the middle. I may finish in time for Christmas.

The design comes from a book called Cross Stitch Characters by Adele Welsby

With grateful thanks to Avis for welcoming me and to all the others who are also sewing along.
