Just in case you missed it, here in the UK we had a long weekend of celebrations to mark this ladies Platinum Jubilee.

Just imagine 70 years of fancy dress, boring speeches and living your life in public gaze. I know that it comes with luxury and amazing opportunity, but at quite a price. However, I like most of the population here, have benefitted from her dedication to the job, no crummy politician to vote for as president, and there is a sense of stability and continuity which is just there, as the backdrop to our lives. I won’t feel the same I don’t think about her successor, but who knows. I do think that the country will be plunged into real mourning when the time sadly comes.
Anyway this just had to be done

All from scraps. The pattern is by Knitting by Post, patterns are well written . I prefer physical ones but also available as PDFs. Link here. https://knittingbypost.com/knitting-pattern/hrh-queen-elizabeth-ii-toy-knitting-pattern/
Lots of people have been posting theirs on line with added necklaces, hat trims , brooches and marmalade sandwiches. But this one was for Baby P so I slightly altered the hat brim to anchor it to the head, plus the body construction, I carried on knitting the head as a continuous piece, so couldn’t get the head angle perfect. I shall make her a fancier one at some point too, but this is as baby friendly as I could make her.

Do join Kate and the others for more great uses of scraps here –https://talltalesfromchiconia.wordpress.com/2022/06/15/scraphappy-june-3/

Perfection! I ❤️ it!
I LOVE YOUR KNITTED QUEEN!! Oh my word – that’s the cutest. Well done, Cathy!
Cute! If you are allowed to call the queen cute 🙂
That is just adorable! What a lovely memento for Baby P – can’t wait to see your fancy version!
Few projects ahead of posh Queen.
Oh my goodness that is so adorable the crocheted Queen! It does seem like no one can replace Queen E!
Oh goodness, Cathy! She is adorable and absolutely perfect. You can tell in an instant who this is a likeness of without knowing ahead of time.
That is good to know, thanks. The pattern is terrific but you do have to pose her arms correctly.
She really does look like HRH. 🙂
It’s a very Good pattern, and versions of her have been popping up on post boxes everywhere.
Utterly charming, and such an appropriate time for it, too. Sooo well done, Cathy!
I admit getting a bit misty over here on t’other side the pond, when HRH is present in our news. And of course I watched BritBox’s almost 3-hr. programme of the horse show. (I think that’s what it was called.) There were horses everywhere, and marching bands, drummers, a steel band, and everyone making amazing formations across that huge ring. A truly amazing woman and how I wish we had our own version over here, as some sort of non-political stability might not go amiss just now…
Trooping of the colour for it’s real name. Colour being flags. We do some great displays for sure. I watched the Saturday night concert, till I got bored.
Thank you! Yes, “Trooping of the colours”! 👏👏👏
(We don’t see that phrase over here.)
she is delightful, she would make me smile every time I looked at her . I can almost picture a marmalade sandwich peaking out of the ever present handbag – maybe that is what it’s for.
I always thought it was for her perfectly laundered handkerchief, now I know better.
I love your sweet little queen! And I’m drinking tea from my 2003 mug…
That’s lovely to hear about your mug.
Man oh man, you’ve done Her Majesty proud! I can’t imagine what would go into knitting a marmalade sandwich but I enjoyed that Paddington Bear clip!
It was utterly charming, Ben Whishaw is the perfect Paddington
Your Daffodil yellow Queen Elizabeth is adorable. Are you planning on adding Paddington as her companion
I should do shouldn’t I !
What a lovely memento and gift for Baby P. I think the slight angle of the head in the first photo gives the doll an animated look.
Thank you. I spent a huge amount of time trying to get the head pose correct. Baby P likes the nose!
A moment in time, captured perfectly! And I’ve seen Her Maj wearing that exact colour in the past.
Yellow seems a favourite. Apparently she wears bright colours to stand out in a group.
What a brilliant gift for the latest baby in your life! It is a very clever pattern – I could tell who it is supposed to be. And much more fun than a commemorative mug – come to think of it I haven’t seen any of those around for this celebration.
I’ve not seen any souvenirs apart from M&S buscuits. I have my baby rattle from the Coronation, being a lady also due a Platinum celebration in the Autumn.
how utterly cute!
Thank you.. I think you’ll be making one too.
not sure if I’ll be knitting HRM ^^ but I have spotted some lovely teddy bear knit patterns on etsy. Sorely tempted.
I think you and I will be knitting lots of toys !
What a fun momento of the Jubilee for Baby P.
I am with you on your assessment of the role of Royalty. Whilst I don’t agree with the wealth, privilege and power (that was), I like that the stability of a non-political Head of State, to oil the wheels of diplomacy and provide the country moments, like the Jubilee, when communities can get together to celebrate. If Charles has any sense he will step aside in favour of William when the time comes – or a couple of years after.
I agree re the succession but I don’t see it happening. He’s waited so long, and only gets the role way past retirement age. I just hope the Queen enjoys her time now.
