I asked for a Spice rack for Christmas. I did not expect a construction kit.
I don’t do constructions, screws, screwdrivers, scary instructions. But it looked straightforward, maybe I could. I had a good nights sleep, and set to work on Saturday.
Surprised Myself.

Nice spice rack! Congrats on getting it all put together!
That’s a really great spice rack, and all your own work. Well done!
I have a little glow of achievement for sure. I may even tackle the solitary bee box this Spring which has been waiting two years for Mr E to do it.
Very nice! Pat yourself on the back, Cathy, you do do construction! :O)
Well I can build lego, and now a spice rack. The grandchildren tried to teach me how to build Minecraft- they weren’t impressed with my efforts.
Nicely done!
Thank you.
I’m not surprised! You’re a very capable person, and if you can follow a complicated knitting pattern, why not a reasonably straightforward rack assembly? I have assembled the flat pack cabinets for three entire kitchens in my time, innumerable book cases and I dunnamany other small bits and pieces. If I can do it, you certainly can, as you’ve just demonstrated. I’m still hoping to turn up a really large spice rack. At present, I have three, plus about 4 plastic cake boxes full in the pantry. I like my spices….
Kate you were my inspiration whilst I made this. I kept reminding myself of your DIY skills, and saying to myself it wasn’t rocket science to build a spice rack. I don’t see myself attempting flat packs though.
I don’t suppose I’d want to do too many of those myself any more!
You did a great job! I always try to scape of assembling stuff, some of them are really impossible to put together without an engineering course!
This was quite straight forward, once I took it slowly and step by step.
Your spice rack looks great!
Thank you.
Room for lots of spices and you can still use the space on the worktop just a bit raised. Clever.
It’s well designed and sturdy, and the instructions were clear.
Ooh, I bet you came over all ‘Rosie the Riveter’ didn’t you?
😉
Oh yes! I’d make quite a poster girl!
Congratulations!! I love how simple it looks – goes in any kind of kitchen! AND you have lots of space, which is even better! 🙂
It’s pretty big and there is loads of room left for more.
That looks like a great way to store spices. I usually have one of my daughters come to assemble such things but looks like you did just fine on your own.
I felt rather proud of myself- it was a big deal for me.
It looks great but your first sentence made me smile. Although I didn’t ask for one (handicrafts aren’t my thing at all) Michael got me a crystal craft kit for Christmas. It makes a picture of a ginger cat and kitten done in tiny crystals – the box says ‘spend a relaxing afternoon…’ but it looks so fiddly and complicated it’ll take me weeks to do it 😦 Your spice rack on the other hand would have been a piece of cake for me 🙂
Your kit sounds like one my DIL has- very effective- who knows you may surprise yourself.
Looks great – plenty of room for your spices, Cathy.
And more besides- few spaces left over.
😊
