Surprising Myself

I asked for a Spice rack for Christmas. I did not expect a construction kit.

Panic Stations!

I don’t do constructions, screws, screwdrivers, scary instructions. But it looked straightforward, maybe I could. I had a good nights sleep, and set to work on Saturday.

Once I worked out that the front and back were different despite looking the same, I was off
Oh my
One spice rack.

Surprised Myself.

  1. Nice spice rack! Congrats on getting it all put together!

  2. That’s a really great spice rack, and all your own work. Well done!

    • I have a little glow of achievement for sure. I may even tackle the solitary bee box this Spring which has been waiting two years for Mr E to do it.

  3. Very nice! Pat yourself on the back, Cathy, you do do construction! :O)

    • Well I can build lego, and now a spice rack. The grandchildren tried to teach me how to build Minecraft- they weren’t impressed with my efforts.

  4. I’m not surprised! You’re a very capable person, and if you can follow a complicated knitting pattern, why not a reasonably straightforward rack assembly? I have assembled the flat pack cabinets for three entire kitchens in my time, innumerable book cases and I dunnamany other small bits and pieces. If I can do it, you certainly can, as you’ve just demonstrated. I’m still hoping to turn up a really large spice rack. At present, I have three, plus about 4 plastic cake boxes full in the pantry. I like my spices….

    • Kate you were my inspiration whilst I made this. I kept reminding myself of your DIY skills, and saying to myself it wasn’t rocket science to build a spice rack. I don’t see myself attempting flat packs though.

  5. You did a great job! I always try to scape of assembling stuff, some of them are really impossible to put together without an engineering course!

  6. Your spice rack looks great!

  7. Room for lots of spices and you can still use the space on the worktop just a bit raised. Clever.

  8. Ooh, I bet you came over all ‘Rosie the Riveter’ didn’t you?
    😉

  9. Congratulations!! I love how simple it looks – goes in any kind of kitchen! AND you have lots of space, which is even better! 🙂

  10. That looks like a great way to store spices. I usually have one of my daughters come to assemble such things but looks like you did just fine on your own.

  11. It looks great but your first sentence made me smile. Although I didn’t ask for one (handicrafts aren’t my thing at all) Michael got me a crystal craft kit for Christmas. It makes a picture of a ginger cat and kitten done in tiny crystals – the box says ‘spend a relaxing afternoon…’ but it looks so fiddly and complicated it’ll take me weeks to do it 😦 Your spice rack on the other hand would have been a piece of cake for me 🙂

  12. Looks great – plenty of room for your spices, Cathy.
