Hello, and Merry Christmas. I am literally just popping my head round the door to wish you all Season’s Greetings. I realise I have been far too chilled this week. The tree is not decorated, the mince pies and stollen not made and there is a small matter of going to a football match on Saturday. The things I do to spend time with two sons and a grandson.
But I have finished the cardigan for Toddler J , which was Sirdar pattern 1426, yarn is Tiny Tots. ( It may have been discontinued in this colour way).
It has rather a nice collar. The buttons are red toggles but on the sleeves are little caterpillars.
Big AAH please.

The sweater turned out great–the caterpillar buttons just pop and add such fun! I think maybe everyone is feeling a little stressed right now–why do we get SO wound up at Christmas?? We have a 5-hour car trip ahead of us today but the weather is good–no snow–so we should be fine. I hope your Christmas is magical!
I hope you had a safe journey and a wonderful Christmas. The reason we get a little stressed is we plan too much and leave insufficient time and we never learn.
I must say you are tempting me to take up knitting again (I stopped when my daughters reached their teens). The cardigan is lovely. Have a Happy Christmas – looking forward to more ‘natter’ in the new year.x
I had a big gap in my knitting, from when Mr B was little till first grandson came along., which was ten years ago now. In the gap of what must have 12/ 13 years I took up embroidery and cross stitch, and quite a lot of other crafts. Knitting I find now to be the most relaxing of crafts, but also if I take on something new to me, one of the most challenging, such as learning to use a cable needle.
Happy Solstice and Good Yule to you, Cathy! Your projects are always lovely and inspiring. I’m looking forward to what you come up with next! As for me, I’m on vacation until the new year, so I’ll be finishing up gifts for my family – small things, all handmade, and each person gets something different. Should keep me busy. Aaah!! Stay warm during those games! Are they outdoors? After all of our cold/snow the last 2 months, we are having a brown/warmish Christmas. Our dinner is Sunday! :o)
Yes the football match will be from 3 to 5pm! It will be a chilly affair but my heart will be warmed by the company.

I still have to put up the tree in Chiconia and drape a few decorations around the place, but first, there’s the small matter of cleaning; the building work around the place this last week has resulted in dust and dirt everywhere! It’s going to be hot, hot, hot over the weekend, thankfully moderating to something a bit more reasonable for Christmas day itself. Season’s greetings from sunny North Queensland!

I have my daughter’s three live wires all day tomorrow as they are moving house – wagons roll at 9am! They will still be living in the same village and a little closer to me so we are all very excited about the move. The children will just have one field to run across to get to me – wonderful!
In the morning we will be making Christmas decorations and then going to a National Trust property to see the Christmas lights in the house and garden. It will be my most festive day of the season – then back to blissful hibernation for me (like a prickly hedgehog) til January 2nd when it should be safe for me to poke my nose out of my nest and venture forth again.

As usual, I am a bit stressed until Mr. Tialys and Mlle Tialys the elder arrive for the festivities. Every year there’s something – last Christmas the air traffic controllers were messing with my head when they kept striking and this year it’s the yellow vests and the general strike, etc. etc. Little did I factor a drone closing down Gatwick into my potential worries. Now they are flying out from Heathrow instead but 24 hours later than they should have been and many hundreds of pounds sterling worse off (as they had to book British Airways).
Fingers crossed for me please.

My fingers and ankles are crossed for the safe delivery of the Tialys clan. Dreadful what happened at Gatwick. Surely there will be some financial compensation, can’t be described as act of god can it?
Happy Christmas right back, Cathy! Love the sweater, and your caterpillar rebellion! I have just a bit left on DH’s Christmas shirt, just the side seams and cuffs today, which leaves me just the hem and buttons for tomorrow. I finally got smart and started sewing buttonholes in as I finished each piece, so I do not have to do them all at the end. It is a relief to think I only have two left, and they are much easier when one is bit fighting with all that fabric, especially the two tiny ones in the collar! I am having a lovely quiet morning catching up on blogs and enjoying my coffee. I will head to the sewing room for a bit, then get a bit of exercise walking Max, and then start on some quilt blocks. Just a makeup lesson and a practice this afternoon, then a bit of shopping tomorrow. We will be two for Christmas this year, which will be different, but still good. 🎄

We’ve just been for the last of our food shopping. Nothing can be made much in advance, on our menu, but that will keep the husband happy in the kitchen on 24th, which is when we do our festive menu. There are only going to be 4 of us for that meal, but we’ll still get into the festive spirit!
Now why can’t Mr E do some cooking? Hope you have a wonderful day and a fabulous feast.
