Scrap Happy- July 2016

I can’t begin to tell you how happy I am with my scrappy makes this time!

First up, some bunting. Now this was a big deal for me as I wanted it to fit the cloakroom window, so I had to figure out how long to make the string, how many triangles, how big they should be and at what interval to place them. I have never made bunting before and having to do all this measuring and thinking was  a challenge. But I loved it.

I was so proud of it, here  are a couple of close ups.

And the one at the left is the fabric from the dress I made my granddaughter.

16.6.16 009

Even the blue bias binding tape was a leftover which I found in my sewing box.

Talking of the crab fabric. There was still some left so my next idea was to make Miss F a matching bag to go with her dress. Big challenge! Nowhere could I find a pattern for a bag for a little girl. Well how hard could it be? I designed my own!  Again lots of head scratching and measuring etc etc etc etc. But… Tahdah!

One bag. Box corners and lined, I might add.

16.6.16 011

Lining was the fabric left from a toy giraffe!.

The straps were another issue. I sewed them in situ but for good measure I added buttons too.

16.6.16 012

They were buttons I already owned too. How long to make the straps was another conundrum, but I still had the dress on a coathanger so I guessed, how long to make them.

One dress with matching bag.

I have now posted this off for Miss F and await the verdict anxiously.
