Life and Thyme!

SAL- update

It’s been a busy time in the garden recently, I can’t keep up with the weeds! However I have been able to spend some time on the birth sampler for my grandson. Determined he shall have it before he is eight.

The row of stitches to the right are for some mice. But I have run into a problem, I can’t find one of the colours I need, I was so sure I had all the ones I required, which probably means, I have moved the skein to another project, but where and which one? Or did I ever have it? This means shopping… I try to keep out of sewing shops, the results of a trip to one can be expensive……

So glad I joined the SAL, I have made more progress in 6 weeks than I have in seven years!!

  1. You’re doing beautifully! This SAL is such a great way of getting old projects finished and new ones started. By the way, the link you’ve given for my blog will only take you to one old post, if you update it so it stops at .com it’ll go to the latest thing.

    well done!
do you have a colour ref for the missing thread? I’d be happy to post some thread if I have the right colour

    • That is such a kind offer. Its Dmc 3024. But I couldn’t put you to that trouble. If I can’t find it easily in the next week I will probably just find a close substitute in my box. I think I am more cross with myself. It’s what happens when you start something and don’t finish it!

  3. It’s coming on beautifully. I love that fox 🙂

I’ve got so many projects kitted up that I have to keep track of everything in Excel, otherwise I’d have no idea what threads I’d got 😛

  4. It´s so nice to see the animals when you´ve done the backstitching! Looking really good!

    • Thanks, the backstitching makes all the difference. Normally I do it at the end, but as there will be a lot I decided to do it as I went along. All the creatures need whiskers and grass adding at the end.

  5. I really love all the animals you’ve done so far and so much progress is being made 🙂 I can recommend Sew and So online shop for threads. They do cheap and fast postage and it would be much cheaper than petrol for the car 🙂

It amazing the difference the back stitching makes to most projects, not the bit most people enjoy the most but it really finishes the picture off, I love the badger – he’s gorgeous 🙂

    • I usually love the back stitch as it makes such a difference, but there is a lot in this design. So I am enjoying it as I go.

  7. You really are maki g good progress!

  8. Keep going on, the badger and the fox are simply adorable! 🙂

  9. Cathy, I love how the sampler is coming along. I’m with you about visiting sewing shops or yarn stores. I try to get in and get out as quickly as I can. Thanks for sharing. Love, Tamara
